The Reading Project reviews are written by real human beings. AI is not used to write our reviews and never will be.
The site is also hand coded. Occasionally I use tutorials and examples online to help learn new skills, but the Reading Project is coded by me, a human, and not a robot.
However, I used a well-known online AI program to generate the following review of Chris McGillian’s The Island’s Vengeful Dead for the purposes of experiment and comparison.
The AI review describes the book as a horror story and says that it is set in Newfoundland. In fact, it is crime fiction and it is set on an island off the main island of Timor-Leste. There are many more minor details that are incorrect.
You can read the Reading Project Review for Chris McGillion’s The Island’s Vengeful Dead, written by a human (me) by clicking on the cover or clicking here. You can see a larger readable image of the AI review by clicking on its image (not available on phone screens) or by clicking here.
I have also produced this short video showing the basic process of creating a review for the Reading Project. It was made in response to the growing effects of AI on our culture and to demonstrate that we are real people. Sure, I may have used AI to produce this video, but if I had, don’t you think I would have made myself look much better in it!
